In Loving Memory of Ysabel “Chavela” Flores
August 15, 1941-May 18, 2025
With deep sorrow and great love, we announce the passing of Ysabel Flores, who entered eternal rest on May 18, 2025, in her home in Port Lavaca, Texas. Born on August 15, 1941, in Beeville, Texas, Ysabel was the heart and soul of our family—a strong, loving, and caring woman who devoted her life to faith, family, and serving others with grace and generosity.
Ysabel’s greatest joy was her family, and she showed it through her actions every day. She was a woman of deep faith who loved going to church and praising God. Her unwavering belief was a source of strength and comfort for all who knew her. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and loved. She welcomed everyone with open arms and an open heart. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth, delicious food, and laughter—no one ever left her home hungry or unloved. Cooking was one of her greatest assets, she found joy in feeding others- her homemade tortillas nourished both the body and soul.
Ysabel also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: sewing, playing bingo, and spending time with her loved ones. Her creativity, generosity, and warm spirit touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She loved her family more than anything in the world, and her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience lives on in each of us. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that we will cherish forever.
Ysabel was preceded in death by her mother Josephina Garcia Flores, father Miguel Flores, brothers Telesforo, Lupe, Mike, Pete, Amos and Theodoro, sisters Mikela, Ines and Nieves, children Rudy Dominguez, grandchildren Anthony Dominguez and Rudy Dominguez Jr, and great grandchildren Kiani Caldera and Kylie Dominguez. She is survived by her brother Reginio Flores Sr, sons Santos Dominguez and wife Nelda, Angel Dominguez, Ramon Dominguez and wife Brenda, and Robert Dominguez, daughters Sylvia Dominguez and Gloria Dominguez, her grandchildren (29), great grandchildren (more than 100) and great-great grandchildren (more than 25).
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Bayside Community Church, located at 25080 RX-172, Port Lavaca, TX 77979. All who knew and loved Ysabel “Chavela” Flores are welcome to join us in honoring her memory.
Though she may be gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. You will be missed Little Grandma.
Romans 1:9 “For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers."
