Roseanna Morris Obituary

Roseanna Hurt Morris left this earthly life on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Victoria, Texas after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 9, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Rosemary Sferruzzi and Herbert R. Hurt.

Rosie was an animal lover who would rescue any and all she felt needed her help.  She would give them all names too. Every one of them! She had a huge love of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing from the banks of the White River in Indiana to the bay waters of the Texas Gulf Coast. She also had a love for small engine repair and even helped her friend, Karen, tear down and rebuild the engine of her 1965 Impala. It was named Snowbird since their sons pushed it down the street in a foot of snow from Karen's garage to Rosie's heated garage.  The story goes they had no idea what the parts of the engine were called but with Polaroid pictures, a detailed list of where the part was originally located, and the helpful staff of the local auto parts store, they were successful in rebuilding the engine. Snowbird was then used later that year to take the kids to summer camp.

Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband of 29 years, Carl W. Morris; her son, Joseph Walters and wife Carol, and bonus grandson, Holden; her daughter, Chauna Walters; her granddaughters Kaylee, Alexandra, and Emily; her bonus daughter, Tina Muse and granddaughters, Ann and Tiffany; and many friends she counted as family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Church in Victoria, Texas for family and friends to share memories and to honor the life of Rosie.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made in Roseanna's honor to Hospice of South Texas.
