Robert “Bob” Hill, 87, of Victoria, Texas peacefully passed surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, following a short illness. He was born on September 2, 1936, to the late Robert and Dorothy Hill in Del Rio.
Bob graduated from Roy Miller High School and received his degree from Texas A&I University. He was an outstanding athlete who ran track in both high school and college. His professional career took him all over the world during the early age of computers. However, much more important to him than his professional accomplishments, Bob cherished the family and friends that enriched his life. Bob was a loving person who made an impression on all the lives he touched. He was a rare man for his time in that he never failed to show his caring and affection for those around him.
Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter and a voracious reader. However, his absolute passion was music. His “favorites” playlist was over 70 hours long.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Donna Hill, daughters Cynthia Hill of Round Rock, Texas, Debby (Roger) Durden of Magnolia, Texas, and Tina (Richard) Evans of Portsmouth, Ohio. Bob will be greatly missed by his sister, Barbara Dean of Kingsville, his beloved grandchildren Cody, James, Timothy, Michelle and Noah, and his great-grandson, Frankie. Bob’s best friends were his brothers-in-law James (Patricia) Pooley and Max (Alma) Pooley. He is leaving behind cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Claude Ellen Dewey and his brothers-in-law Robert and Richard Pooley and son-in-law Damon McAnally.
Services and internment will be in Mobile, Alabama at a later date.
Memorial donations in Bob’s honor may be made to: Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center, 1005 Mallette Drive, Victoria, TX 77904.
