In Loving Memory of Richard. A. Flores
Richard Flores, born December 19, 1958, passed away December, 9, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, curiosity, and love of learning and teaching touched everyone who knew him.
Richard began his adult life on the air at 95 KVIC, Victoria’s local radio station under his studio name Rick Shaw, where he delivered newscasts, hosted remotes, and met many notable figures. He even brought the Christmas parade to Victoria. He later transitioned to drafting, designing numerous sidewalk ramps along Navarro Street—chances are, if you’ve walked Navarro in Victoria, you’ve crossed one of the ramps he designed.
Richard ultimately found his true calling in education. He first taught at Stroman Freshman campus and ended his career at Victoria East High School to help students build business computer skills for the future. Teaching at East was his passion; his students and colleagues were the joy of his life, and they remained dear to his heart.
He is preceded in death by his Father Henry Flores, Mother Beatriz Martinez Flores and, brother Mario Flores.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Fran; his children, daughter Carly (Daniel), son Richard (Mia), and Daughter Jenna (Luke) brother Carlos Flores, and his nieces Natalie Walters (James), Chloe; and his 6 grandchildren who brought him endless pride and happiness. Richard’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the students he inspired, and the community he helped shape. There will be a Celebration of Life for Richard on 1/10/26 @ 1-3pm at Mitchell Event Center 306 E Commercial St. Victoria TX.
Rick will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his generous spirit, quick wit and steadfast dedication to helping others learn and grow.
