Mildred Matilda Ponton, 90, peacefully passed away on March 21, 2022. She was born on March 6, 1932, in Hochheim, TX to Mike and Juel Parker.
She met the love of her life, Joel Ponton, in Yoakum, TX and enjoyed a beautiful loving marriage for 47 years. She was nothing short of a matriarch- not a matriarch of materialistic possessions in a giant, fancy home- but a matriarch of an enormous network of relatives, friends, and neighbors that all looked up to her for her enlightening wisdom, her thirst for adventure, and her excitement for curiosity which never faded during her 90 years on this earth. To know her was to love her. Every human that ever had the opportunity to speak with and get to know her knew immediately they were lucky. The world has lost an exceptional human that will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her sons Bryan Ponton (Patsy), Kenneth Ponton (Valerie), Glynn Ponton (Betty); her daughter Nancy Machicek (Kenneth); her 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; her sisters Lorena Mueller, Alma Allen, Judy Lawrence, Barbara Buethe; and her brother Randy Parker. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joel Ponton; brothers Leslie Parker and Mike Parker; and her sisters; Florence Ponton and Maxine Fudge; as well as grandchildren; Rachel Kutach, Lance Ponton, and Bryan Cody Sparks.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
