Michael Zan Miles was born May 21, 1957, in Odessa, Texas. He was the eldest son of Zan N. B. Miles and Patsy S. Taylor Miles. Mike enjoyed his childhood along with his two younger brothers and little sister, and as a young man entertained his baby sister. Mike played baseball along with his two brothers in youth leagues and played football in the front yard with his sister against his two brothers. As he got older, he was known to hit the beach and go surfing. Mike was a free spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest. Mike loved traveling and visiting new places, especially the ocean. Mike also loved visiting with family at the yearly reunions. He was brave enough to go on adventures without fear of change. He enjoyed art, music, nature, and was talented in each of these areas. Mike was a carpenter, craftsman, cook, groundskeeper, and had many different vocations in his life. Though he was able to do just about anything with his hands, Mike did everything with intention and thoughtfulness and did everything to his best ability. Mike was a quiet and perceptive person, but was quick-witted and was easygoing and easy to like. His sense of humor was so dry, but he could make people belly laugh without even trying. It was impossible to not love Mike. He would pick on his brothers and sisters, but he would protect them from anyone. Mike lived a life of courage and conviction. On July 30, 2022, Mike was called home to Heaven. He was preceded in death by his dad, Zan. N. B. Miles, and his girlfriend, Kerry Monier. Mike is survived by: his mother, Patsy Miles; his brothers Tim Miles and Terry Miles; and his sisters Necie Hudson and Veronica Johnson.
