Lorine Meitzen Obituary

Lorine A. Kruger Meitzen, 83, peacefully gained her angel wings on February 24, 2024, with her daughter by her side.

Lorine was born to Ewalt Hugo Oscar Kruger and Janey Froney Dove of Hutto, TX on August 21, 1940. Lorine spent her early years helping on the family cotton farm, attending grade school, and then finally went on to graduate with honors from Hutto High School. Her path took her to Austin, TX where she met the love of her life, John Leslie Meitzen, while working at a state agency. They married on January 26, 1974, and would have been married 50 years until his recent passing in October 2023. He fully accepted and adopted her three sons; Rick, Ray Steven, and Randy Lynn. In the years following, they raised their granddaughter/daughter in Houston, TX. where she worked as an Administrative Secretary for various companies, including Conoco World Headquarters until her retirement. She was highly respected and trusted in her field of work. She was also very involved, and a faithful member of the Living Word Church where she and her husband made many lifelong friends. After retirement, they moved to Cuero, TX to spend the rest of their years.

Lorine, even after retirement, enjoyed substitute teaching at local schools, volunteering where her grandsons went to school, and even worked for the Census. She enjoyed doing puzzles in her free time and was always in the kitchen cooking for her family. Her dedication in helping to raise her grandsons made up the entirety of her world, she was the affectionate team grandma. The highest priority to Lorine was making sure her daughter and two grandsons were well taken care of and that always showed. Lorine was known as a caretaker to all in her family, always willing to lend a hand and be there when needed. Lorine raised six children total, all of whom she loved fiercely. She loved deeply and passionately her family here on earth and was very committed to faith inside and outside the church. She had a spunky personality and always had a welcoming smile, a smile you could never forget... even her eyes smiled.

She is survived by one son; Ray Steven Meitzen (Kay) of Arkansas, and one daughter; Sheryl Loraine Meitzen of Cuero and her two sons Jon Paul Williams and Josiah James Rickman. She is also survived by; granddaughter Janey Rena Perryman (Kyle) of Mississippi and great grandchildren Granger and Delta, grandson Rick A. Meitzen Jr. and great grandchildren Mason and Chloe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lorine is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and two sons; Rick A. Meitzen and Randy Lynn Meitzen both of Austin, TX.
