Leslie Daltry Obituary

Leslie Edward Daltry of Victoria, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2025 at the age of 83 from complications stemming from a stroke he suffered in December 2016.

Leslie was born November 27, 1941 to Lewis Charles Daltry and Marie Emma Schnell Daltry in Darby, Pennsylvania. He quit school to join the Navy which landed him in Beeville, Texas, where he met Sandra Gail Prewitt.  It was there that he also earned his GED in the spring and then married Sandra on July 8, 1961. He was baptized in December 1961.

Growing up in Philadelphia, he enjoyed working as a mechanic in his grandfather’s shop. He carried this experience into the Navy, working as an aircraft mechanic, once also being chosen for a job of mechanic for the Blue Angels. After separating from the Navy, he found work in Victoria again as a mechanic with various companies, then worked as a feeder driver for United Parcel Service, where he retired after 27 years. After retirement, he worked for Monarch Machinery in the shop and then went on to be an IT for Hewlett Packard, which fueled his love for computers.

In his many years in Victoria, he attended Central, Blythe Road, and Midtown Churches of Christ. He served in many capacities of the church, which he enjoyed and thrived in.

Leslie was preceded in death by his mother and father, older brother, Charles Daltry, and younger brother, Robert Daltry.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra Daltry, son, Lewis (Pam) Daltry, and daughter, Pam (Talmadge) Archer.  Grandchildren; Ryan (Kathryn) Daltry, Erin (Jordan) Moore, Chelsea Clapp, John Clapp, Delanie Archer, Cody (Chelsey) Archer, and Randall Archer.  Great-grandchildren; Quinn Daltry, Grant Daltry, Jackson Moore, Emmy Moore, Clara Moore, and Arrietty Archer. He is also survived by sister Rena (Arthur) Berbigler.
