Leland Edward Schroeter Jr.

Leland Edward Schroeter, Jr. passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 86 in Victoria, Texas. He was born on February 21, 1939 in Victoria. Leland graduated from Patty Welder High School in 1957 and then attended Victoria College. A proud veteran, Leland served both in the US Army and the US Army Reserve, embracing the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. His service to his country was a significant part of his life story. Leland dedicated 34 years of his career to the Victoria Du Pont plant, where his work ethic and commitment were well respected. After retiring from DuPont, Leland worked for Colonial Funeral Home and Victoria Mortuary Services. Leland was a faithful member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, actively participating in church leadership and the men’s breakfast group. His commitment to his faith and community was evident through his involvement and the relationships he nurtured within the church. He is survived by his spouse, Cathleen Calhoun Hopkins Schroeter; his children, Leslie Schroeter Stanley, Lynne Schroeter Aupiu, and Rodney Schroeter (wife, Ramona); stepchildren, John Hopkins (wife, Maria) and Cara Hopkins Tripp (husband, Jim); 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Schroeter Lyon. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Leland E. Schroeter, Sr. and Edna Weber Schroeter. A graveside service for immediate family will be scheduled in the future. Leland’s life was marked by his steadfast presence, both in his family and his community, leaving a legacy of dedication and service. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorials may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran church or donor’s favorite charity.
