Janet Marie (McKenzie) Harris

Janet M. Harris passed away at home on January 25, 2026, after a long illness. She was born to Thomas Michael McKenzie and Goldie Jain Gray on January 27, 1964. Janet and husband, Craig
W. Harris were married for 45 years before her death, together they had one child, Neil W. Harris.

She was a registered nurse and worked for the DeTar Healthcare System in various departments where she made many friends and was a great patient advocate.

Janet was a loving, caring and generous person. She always said, “I love you” when parting or getting off the phone. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a hearty laugh. Although she had a quick temper, she was just as quick to apologize and offer forgiveness to others.

In spite of her many trials, Janet had an unfailing faith in Jesus Christ and was an inspiration to many. Following the death of her son, she often said she was ready to go home and be with Jesus and Neil.

Janet is survived by her husband, Craig Harris; daughter-in-law, Brandie Harris; grandchildren; Abagayle, Baileigh, and Owenn Harris; brother-in-law, Steven Harris; sister-in-law, DiAnna
Harris; nieces, Nicole Dudley, and BriAnna Anderson; seven great nieces and great nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Timothy McKenzie; and son, Neil Harris.
