James (Jim) Stephen Cook

James Stephen Cook (Jim), 84, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 5:50 a.m. Jim was born in Buffalo, Minnesota on December 9, 1941, to parents James and Hattie Cook. After High School, Jim became a proud member of the United States Air Force. After his time in the service, Jim was married two times, the first to Lanell Cook of Texas, and most recently to his loving wife of 28 years, Nancy Kay Cook of Minnesota, who preceded Jim in death this past year on August 1, 2025.

Jim is also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Howard, Joyce, Artis, Larry, Audry, and Elanor. Jim had a deep passion for the outdoors and loved to share his love of fishing and golf with anyone willing to talk with him. Jim truly never knew a stranger and his joyful presence will be missed greatly. Prior to his passing, Jim had been a resident at Morada Assisted Living Center in Victoria, Texas.

Jim is survived by his five children, (Daughter) Lisa Lynn Owens of Bastrop, Texas (Sons) Stephen David Cook of Bastrop, Texas, and Russell Lawrence Cook of Victoria, Texas, (Stepdaughters) Sherri Stewart of Colorado and Lori Jonell of North Carolina. Jim was also blessed with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
