James Michael "Mike" Lawhorn, 65, passed away in Victoria, Texas on January 10, 2025. Born October 9, 1959 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Marjorie Yvonne and Kenneth Eugene Lawhorn, he carried his Michigan roots proudly throughout his life. As a passionate University of Michigan fan, Mike lived and breathed Wolverines football, structuring his life around game days. He proudly bled blue and gold until the end.
For over forty years, Mike lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he built a career as a real estate appraiser and established his own firm. In 2017, he relocated to Victoria, Texas, drawn by the love of family, particularly his children and granddaughters. Mike found his greatest joy and purpose in grandfatherhood, filling his days with school runs, homework help, trips to the park, movie outings, and countless precious moments with his grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Brenda Waldon. He is survived by his children: James Michael Lawhorn II of Cornelia, Georgia; Kenneth Robert Lawhorn and wife Amber of Victoria, Texas; and Jaimie Michelle Lawhorn of Alpine, Texas; his grandchildren: Jake, Jane, and Madeline; and his siblings: Norma, Rick, Danny, Kevin, and Steven.
As we say goodbye to this beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, we honor his memory with his favorite rally cry: "Go Blue!”
A Memorial Service will be held at the Victoria Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sunday January 19, 2025 at 11am. 3103 E Mockingbird Lane Victoria Texas 77901.
