After a courageous 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s, our dad, Don Ray Heine, age 65, passed through the gates of heaven on the evening of July 22nd, 2024.
Don spent his last day surrounded by all of his favorite people. Although we mourn his passing, we rejoice in his homecoming. We know this loss isn't just ours. This loss will also affect everyone who knew him, as Don touched the lives of every person in his path. Don had a way of making every person he met feel seen, loved, and appreciated. He was everyone's friend.
Don was born in Elgin, Texas, on September 8, 1958, to Gustav and Irene Heine. He grew up in Austin, Texas, where he attended Pierce Junior High; and graduated from Reagan High School in 1977. As a young man, he spent his free time hunting, fishing, and Western dancing. After high school, he went on to work at Travis Tile Sales in Austin, Texas. Following his career at Travis Tile Sales, Don pursued a career in the waste oil business with his brothers. He made his living as a waste oil truck driver and ended his career in management. He married Donna Holliday on June 2nd, 1979, and together they raised two children, Bobby and Stephanie. Bobby was born on August 31, 1981, and Stephanie was born on October 10th, 1990.
