Daniel was born and grew up in Big Spring, Tx but moved to Odessa, Tx in his youth where he met his future wife of 50 years, Vickie Badillo, and where he would become father to his son, Steven Badillo. He later moved to Victoria, Tx where he called home.

Daniel was known to live life on his terms which he did all the way to the end. A quote that sums up his life is, "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a ride!"

Daniel was a hardworking man and good provider for his family and friends. He took his responsibility to clothe, feed and provide a home for his family seriously. Rain or shine he got up to get the job done so his wife and son could have not just what they needed but also enjoy luxuries in life.

Daniel worked as an industrial painter while in Odessa, then painted cars when he moved to Victoria, until he suddenly but to become a custodian. This was quite a surprise to his wife and son, but he was known for his spontaneity. After working so hard for so many years he actually enjoyed the simplicity of "pushing a mop," as he would say. He worked at Dudley Elementary, moved to DeTar where he earned a supervisor position. He did courier services for DeTar as well, but found it too easy, so he went to Walmart to again do custodial work where recognitions for his hard work and good work ethic. Daniel is known for his laughter and love of a good time. He loved listening to oldies and his classic cars and would often enjoying cruising around with his tunes. He enjoyed his drink and is often remembered doing something funny with a beer in hand. He was always the life of the party, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. Even when he made you mad, you couldn't help but love him anyways. Daniel was a generous man and often gave without expecting anything in return and without acknowledgement. He would often ask to give something to someone he knew was in need or just as a thoughtful gesture.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the age of 6, and though he struggled with his faith, he had respect for Jehovah and his people. He had a good heart. Only Jehovah knows and understands his internal struggles, and pain, and as the Great Potter he also known how to fix the broken pieces. When Jehovah wakes him again, no doubt Daniel will be recognized by his laugh.
