James Anthony Berger, 48, passed away on April 12th after a heroic battle with cancer. James was diagnosed in Aug of 2015 and given 16 months to live. James amazed us all, in classic James fashion, and fought for almost 4 years.
James was born April 7th of 1971 in Houston, Texas to Elroy and Carolyn Berger. He was raised in Victoria, Texas where he never knew a stranger, and found himself surrounded by family and friends throughout his life. Many of the friendships from his youth would follow him throughout his years, including his friendship with the love of his life. in his and Danielle's 10 yrs in Austin, he made many new friends who would also support him through the years. James was notorious for his humor, ingenuity, and overall love of life and adventure. When not working on projects or fishing with loved ones, he could be found searching caves for artifacts or enjoying his new found love of jumping out of planes. James was an amazing mechanic, and could find a way to fix or make anything that he put his mind to, but he was an even better father and husband. The love he had for life was only surpassed by the love he had for those around him.
